If eyes are the window to the soul, are exterior doors a glance into the soul of your home? If so, then my home's soul is shiny and new!
I switched from purple wooden doors with 1960-tiki references to Feathersomething white doors with double-paned glass inserts. In addition to a bit more insulation, there is quite a bit more light. At the same time, the glass pattern is obscured (not clear glass), so privacy is only minimally compromised.
Before....please notice how the deep purple doors are set off by the flanking fir trees. (Because, everyone wants a tree that grows 30+feet planted immediately in front of their doors, yes?)
And, ta dah!, after....
Hmm...did the trees disappear too? How interesting....
Many thanks to Shawn and Dave who put A LOT of effort into the installation of the front doors. Let me just say that, when inspecting a product from Home Depot, look for more than visible dents. You also want to check the length of the weatherstripping (cut too short on this door) and you want to check to see if the holes for the locks are properly aligned. (They weren't drilled in a parallel fashion.) I felt very lucky that they were able to compensate for the "pecularities" of this door during the installation process.
Btw, if a Home Depot employee from the Tukwila store should run across this post, I'm still waiting for your call about the weatherstripping fix...
Once the weatherstripping dilemma is resolved, the only left to do - is to trim out the doors and then paint them. What color would be best? Purple?
